3 D face recognition using Contour , Fourier Descriptors

In this paper a contour matching based face recognition system is proposed, which uses “Fourier Descriptor of contour” for identification of faces. The feasibility of using contour and FD’s matching for human face identification is presented through experiment. The Fourier descriptor is used to describe the boundary of a shape in 2 dimensional space.The advantage of using the Fourier descriptor of the contour is reduces a 2-D into a 1-D problem. Fourier descriptor of Contour of input image is matched with Fourier descriptor of Contour of registered image using simple matching algorithms. The proposed system of face recognition may be applied in identification systems and access control. Keywords— Face Recognition, Contour Tracing, Fourier Descriptor, Biometrics, Image Processing.
